Reglan® (metoclopramide) is a doctor-prescribed medication that increases the contractions of the stomach and small intestine, helping with the passage of food. Prescribed to both children and adults, Reglan® has been used to treat symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis (a condition in which the stomach does not contract) and gastroesophageal reflux (GER).  It is also given to cancer chemotherapy and surgery patients to prevent nausea and vomiting.

Recently, serious side effects including a neurological disorder called tardive dyskinesia, has been linked to Reglan®. The risk of this potentially permanent movement disorder is thought to increase with extended use of Reglan®. Other serious complications that can occur with Reglan® (metoclopramide) use include:
