Mr. Denton has devoted his entire legal career to exclusively representing individuals who have been seriously injured. Mr. Denton has litigated extensively in pharmaceutical products liability cases involving defective drugs and devices, representing thousands of clients. As an accomplished trial attorney, he has also gained a national reputation in litigation involving injured railroad employees under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (“FELA”) by achieving record settlements and verdicts in multiple jurisdictions. Mr. Denton also has significant experience in complex litigation involving dangerous products, professional malpractice, and commercial litigation. Mr. Denton is known for being an aggressive litigator and trial attorney, who has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements against fortune five-hundred companies and other corporations.
Mr. Denton has been actively involved in a number of mass tort actions and has served in several leadership roles. In the In Re Gadolinium Based Contrast Products Liability Litigation, Multi-District action, Mr. Denton was nominated by his peers to be on the Plaintiffs’ National Steering Committee, which consists of a select group of lead attorneys for plaintiffs to direct and oversee this complex litigation. (see psc web site) Mr. Denton’s appointment to the Plaintiffs’ National Steering Committee was confirmed by United States District Judge Dan Polster in April 2008. In addition, Mr. Denton is a member of the Science and Discovery Committees of the Gadolinium litigation. Mr. Denton also is a member of the Plaintiffs’ National Steering Committee in the In Re Ortho Evra Products Liability Litigation since 2006 through the present time. Mr. Denton serves on the Science and Discovery Committees for the Ortho Evra Litigation, and also is part of the trial team. As a result, he has taken lead roles in deposing executive level employees of Johnson & Johnson and developing expert witnesses in the field of clinical studies, pharmacology, and regulatory issues under the Food and Drug Administration.
Mr. Denton has also been actively involved in a number of other mass tort litigations, including Fen-Phen, Vioxx, NuvaRing and represents clients nationwide in many other defective drug cases and other personal injury cases. Mr. Denton has also spoken at national seminars on various areas of litigation, including pharmaceutical litigation and has published articles in legal journals.
Mr. Denton has achieved a rating from his peers of the highest level of professional excellence for his quality and expertise in legal work, professionalism, and ethics by receiving an “AV” rating in Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Denton is a member of many distinguished professional affiliations, including the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Denton graduated in 1978, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, which he obtained from Culver-Stockton College in Missouri. Mr. Denton attended law school at St. Louis University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1982, gradating with the distinction of summa cum laude and also was a member of the Law Journal. Mr. Denton was admitted to practice law in 1982 in Illinois, the Missouri Bar in 1983, and the Wisconsin Bar in 1998. Mr. Denton is also admitted to practice before the United Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits, and the United States District Courts in Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
Mr. Denton is a founding partner of Schlichter Bogard &; Denton and is instrumental in managing the St. Louis, Missouri office. Mr. Denton practices in the St. Louis, Missouri office and also in the Minocqua, Wisconsin office, where he is sole managing partner.
