Digitek Recall
On April 25, 2008, Actavis Totowa LLC, a United States manufacturing division of the international generic pharmaceutical company Actavis Group, initiated a Class I nationwide recall of Digitek. Digitek is distributed by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., under a “Bertek” label and by UDL Laboratories, Inc. under a “UDL” label.
The nationwide recall includes all strengths of Digitek tablets. These tablets were manufactured with double the appropriate thickness and contained double the FDA approved level of digoxin, the active ingredient in Digitek. As a result many patients overdosed from digoxin toxicity.
This Digitek recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA has received many reports of serious illnesses and injuries regarding digitalis toxicity.
